My Practice

Therapy with me begins by creating a safe and supportive space where you can show up as you are. Together, we’ll explore what matters most to you—your emotions, past experiences, and the beliefs that may be holding you back. While talking is often a part of the process, my work as a Drama Therapist also incorporates creative techniques that involve sound, movement, story and role to access parts of your experience that words alone can’t always reach.

My journey to becoming a Creative Arts Therapist started with an early interest in psychology. I studied at the University of Toronto as a psychology major, but I quickly realized that healing and transformation required more than theoretical knowledge or traditional approaches. In my fourth year, a course with Dr. John Vervaeke introduced me to the concept of embodied and participatory knowing—the idea that knowledge isn’t just stored in our minds but is also held in our bodies, shaped by our experiences and expressed through our actions. This resonated deeply with me and helped me see that healing must involve the whole self: mind, body, and spirit.

I also learned that metaphor and symbolism—often seen in art, stories, and movement—are powerful ways to access the subconscious. Drawing from Carl Jung’s perspective, I came to understand that metaphors are the language of the subconscious, allowing us to explore complex emotions and experiences that can’t always be articulated in words. Inspired by this, I took a break from academia to immerse myself in Kathak, an Indian classical dance form. This experience deepened my connection to embodied expression and the transformative potential of creativity.

This journey ultimately brought me to Concordia University’s Drama Therapy program, where I found a space that integrated all these ideas. The program was life-changing, showing me how creative arts could unlock healing and transformation not just for myself but for others.

Over the past few years, I’ve had the privilege of working with diverse populations, including older adults, neurodivergent individuals, refugees, single mothers, and women navigating life transitions. I’ve supported clients from adolescence through older adulthood, tailoring therapy to their unique stories and needs.

As your therapist, I bring this rich background into our sessions. Whether we’re talking, exploring through movement, or connecting to emotions through metaphor and story, my goal is to help you foster a healthier relationship with yourself and the world around you.
